FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 3, 2016
Newspaper joins Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Jewish Star in Support of Dold
Lake Bluff, IL – Journal & Topics today endorsed Bob Dold for re-election, joining the Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Jewish Star.
In its endorsement, Journal & Topics praised Dold for independent leadership on critical issues to the 10th District including safeguarding women’s healthcare choices and advancing common sense gun control.
“Once again, the 10th Congressional District race pits incumbent Republican Robert Dold against former U.S. Rep., Democrat Brad Schneider.
“In this time of in-your-face campaigning, the Journal & Topics Media Group gives its endorsement to Dold, a moderate Republican who has taken positions advocating sensible gun control legislation and on abortion issues, which are contrary to much of his party leadership.
“We feel Dold has done a good job representing the people of the 10th District, which includes parts of Des Plaines, Glenview, a small part of northwest Niles, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights, Buffalo Grove and Wheeling.
“We often hear the lament from voters who say that once campaigns are over they never hear from the ones who were elected to represent them until election time rolls around again. Dold is an exception to that practice.”
“I am proud to have received the endorsement of Journal & Topics who again recognized the importance of having leaders who are willing to work on both sides of the aisle to tackle the toughest issues facing our communities. I will continue to practice that type of independent leadership once again in the next Congress,” said Dold.
